Matias Torres Galaz is a senior undergraduate student in Mechanical Engineering at California State University, Northridge (CSUN) and an undergraduate researcher in the Collaborative & Autonomous Robotics Research (CARE) Lab. His work focuses on the mechanical design and integration of robotic systems, with an emphasis on enabling robots to safely and effectively interact with humans.
Within the CARE Lab, Matias contributes to projects involving human–robot interaction, robotic mechanisms, and sensor integration, collaborating closely with faculty and graduate researchers. His interests lie at the intersection of robotics, control systems, and intelligent machines, with the goal of developing human-centered robotic technologies for real-world applications.
Matias is passionate about hands-on engineering, research-driven design, and interdisciplinary collaboration. He plans to pursue advanced studies and a career in robotics and intelligent systems, where he can continue bridging mechanical design with intelligent control and autonomy.
